The orphan Heidi is five years old when her aunt Dete takes her to her grandfather in the Swiss mountains. The grumpy old man, who everyone just calls Alm-Öhi and who lives in seclusion on his mountain pasture, initially has nothing to do with his granddaughter. But over time, he takes his granddaughter to heart and Heidi becomes a real child of the mountains.
Soon she is looking after the goats together with her new friend, Goatherd Peter. Heidi loves all animals, but especially the little goat Schnucki, her bird Pieple and finally even Joseph the St. Bernard. But one day, Aunt Dete returns and takes Heidi with her to Frankfurt...

Heidi
Have you ever been to the mountains? Nowhere in the world is it as beautiful as there. Heidi is interested in everything that happens around her. Whether it's bell people, the sounds of the trees, her grandfather's homemade cheese or fresh cheesecake, which Heidi finds particularly delicious. And of course, for their beloved animals! There are a lot of them at grandfathers!
Miss Rottenmeier
The strict housekeeper Frau Rottenmeier is responsible for the upbringing and care of the sick Clara. She doesn't always get along with Heidi's happy nature.
Mischief
The little goat got its name from Heidi. She was born during a thunderstorm. Heidi and Peter were able to bring their mother Distelfink to grandfather's protective stable in time for the birth.
Clara
When the two girls, Heidi, and Clara, met in Frankfurt for the first time, Heidi knew immediately that they would become best friends. Clara has been in a wheelchair since her mother died. Her father, Mr. Sesemann, is a wealthy businessman and travels a lot. That's why he hires Fraulein Rottenmeier as a teacher for Clara. Heidi and Clara have a lot of fun together in Frankfurt, so Clara can forget that she can't walk. But when Clara visits Heidi after her return to the mountains, a miracle happens: she can walk again!
